1986: the explosion of reactor 4 of the Chernobyl plant causes the worst nuclear accident in history. 2016: a gigantic dome confining the initial "sarcophagus" of the site is locked, especially by electric cylinders IVEA...
After the catastrophe, a first concrete sarcophagus was built to isolate the reactor. From 2007 to 2016, the Novarka consortium (Bouygues-Vinci) realised a gigantic containment building (108 m high) covering and securing the site for a minimum of a century.
Responsible for the closure and locking of the panels closing and sealing this ark, the company Chabas & Besson delivered 52 hydraulic auto-cylinders, supplemented by 62 Electric Cylinders – Effort: 140 KN/Stroke 550 mm – signed... IVEA!
A legitimate pride for IVEA, closely associated with securing a highly radioactive site, as well as the device that now allows to dismantle and clean the old sarcophagus and what remains of the number 4 reactor.
